Kayak Rolling Class
Whether you are learning to roll a kayak for the first time, wanting to learn to roll up on the other side or you just need a tune up, Backcountry Kayak School can help get you there. We specialize in breaking down the Sweep Roll in to a step by step learning process that makes it easier to learn.

Frequently asked Questions?

Question……How long will it take to learn how to roll?

Answer………As long as it takes. I have taught people to roll in ten minutes and some have taken a few sessions to learn. As long as the end result is the same. There is no time limit.

Question……How strong do I have to be?

Answer………A little bit of strength goes a long way. Kayaking and rolling a kayak is mostly Finesse,Technique and Knowledge. Just bring a desire to learn and the rest will come.

Question……Am I trapped in a Kayak once I go upside down?

Answer………No. Getting out of a kayak is as easy as sliding off a pair of sweat pants, in fact it involves about the same motion.

River Running 101

If you have already had some instruction and want to work on the fundamentals of kayaking this class is for you. You have learned the basics and you're ready for more. This course requires a general knowledge of paddle strokes, (forward & back paddling, sweeps, braces and draws), body posture, the ability to paddle straight on flat water and familiarity with river features. You should already be able to catch eddies and exit eddies. A solid roll is great, but not necessary at this point. These classes will be taught on the Casper White Water Park.
